MILabs announces Image of the Year Awards at WMIC 2019
MILabs has selected winners for its annual preclinical Image of the Year awards at the World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC) in Montreal, Canada. Entries were judged on scientific merit, the type of information gleaned from the images, and overall image quality. All images were judged by a panel of independent experts.
“This year’s winners represent breakthrough research in animal PET, SPECT, Optical and CT imaging by our users and cover applications in oncology, neurology, immunology, in vivo histology, bone morphometry, cardiology, metabolic and pulmonary research, plus the burgeoning field of immunotherapy,” said Frederik Beekman Ph.D., CEO and Founder of MILabs. “We congratulate the winners of this year’s competition and are grateful to all our users for their tireless effort and dedication to the field of preclinical research.”
The honorees are:

CT angiography of an intact pig brain perfused under ex vivo normothermic conditions. Obtained by the CT modality of a U-SPECT/CT.
Optical Tomography: 3D FLT/CT tracks intracranial injection and visualizes BBB permeability
Columbia University PET Center, New York.
Molotkov A, Doubrovin M, Mintz A, Poster, WMIC2019, Montreal, Canada, September 2019
Pinpoint visualization of intracranial injection spot using 3D optical scanner with microCT. Solution of mouse albumin labeled with Cy7 (mALB-Cy7) was injected intracranially into brain of a normal mouse. 3D optical image was obtained using MILabs FLT/CT scanner 24h after mALB-Cy7 injection.
Theranostics I: Enchancing treatment efficacy of 177Lu-PSMA
BC Cancer Research Centre, Vancouver.
Kuo HT, Merkens H, Zhang Z, Uribe CF, Lau J, Zhang C, Colpo N, Lin KS, Benard F; Mol Pharm. September 2018
These U-SPECT/CT images demonstrate that a novel albumin-binder-conjugated 177Lu-PSMA-617 derivative, 177Lu-HTK01169, has an extended blood retention time to maximize the radiation dose delivered to prostate tumors expressing prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA).
Theranostics II: First whole-body 3D tomographic imaging of alpha particle emitting Radium-223
Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis.
