Best-performing SPECT scanners compared in EJNM & MI paper

Researchers from the University of Antwerp and Ghent University compared three high performance preclinical SPECT scanners: The U-SPECT-II (MILabs) was compared to the X-SPECT (Gamma Medica) and the NanoSPECT (Mediso/Bioscan). As reported in the paper, MILabs’ U-SPECT-II clearly outperformed the other two systems in the following important areas based on comparative phantom analysis: sensitivity, resolution, quantitative accuracy (uniformity), and cold lesion contrast were significantly better for the MILabs system. In the context of this comparison performed on previously installed systems, it is interesting to note that major improvements were recently implemented on MILabs’ U-SPECT technology. Last November the U-SPECT+/CT was introduced at the EANM meeting in Milan, Italy, demonstrating even better resolution, sensitivity and quantitative accuracy. In addition, spectacular fast dynamic imaging capabilities were implemented that facilitate new breakthroughs in e.g. fast pharmacokinetic imaging of single photon emitters.
