2012 MILabs Image of the Year and Research Awards

During the MILabs Reception and Molecular Science Review held during the recently concluded Society of Nuclear Medicine meeting in Miami, FL, USA, MILabs announced the 2012 small animal Image of the Year Award.  The awards were presented at the end  of the inaugural “Highlight Lecture” delivered by Founder and CEO  Frederik Beekman.  In the lecture outstanding work from worldwide MILabs users was presented.  The research shown was of such high quality that the jury decided to select three additional awards in the categories of Oncology, Cardiology and Brain research. Below the happy award winners are shown receiving their respective awards which were machined in the MILabs production facilities.
The jury selected the work of Dr. Karolina  Andralojc et al from Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center  titled “Longitudinal imaging of transplanted islets in a rat model with SPECT” as the MILabs Image of the Year 2012. Professor M. Gotthardt leading the research team is shown receiving the award for Radboud University.
The work of Dr.  Shao et al from Purdue University titled “Monitoring Glioma Growth and Tumor Necrosis with U-SPECT-II/CT by Targeting Integrin αvβ3”  received the MILabs 2012 Oncology Research Award. Dr. Aaron Taylor, Imaging Center Director is shown receiving the Purdue Award.
The work on 4D in vivo Molecular Microscopy of the Mouse Heart  with U-SPECT-II/CT from Nicholas Befera M.D. and co-workers from the Center for In Vivo Microscopy, Duke University  was rewarded the MILabs 2012 Cardiology Research Award
The MILabs 2012 Brain Research Award went to Dr. Tine Wyckhuys and colleagues l from the University of Antwerp & Ghent University for their work   on quantitative molecular imaging  of neuromodulation effects in the rat brain.
